About Aikido of Marshall

Uttech Sensei Classes are taught by Mark Uttech, who began training in aikido in 1984 at Aikido of Madison under John Stone and Robin Cooper. Uttech Sensei started the childrens training program at Aikido of Madison and has been teaching classes in Marshall, WI for 18 years. In 2003 he was awarded the rank of Yondan (4th degree black belt) with the approval of Saotome Sensei.

Aikido of Marshall is a member of the Aikido Schools of Ueshiba, founded and directed by Mitsugi Saotome, Shihan. This organization is located in Washington, D.C. and is affiliated with the World Aikido Headquarters in Tokyo, Japan.

Saotome Sensei, who studied in Japan under aikido's founder for fifteen years, has written two books. Aikido and the Harmony of Nature is an in-depth study of the relationship of aikido to the movement and processes of natural phenomena. The Principles of Aikido focuses on basic and advanced technique, the spirit and meaning of training and the fundamental principles of aikido.
